NoteBot 4000

Annotating webpages is what NoteBot 4000 does. It's a FireFox Extension that calls back to a CGI script that stores and provides notes for distinct URLs. Similar to other social bookmark extensions (like Spurl), it's a necessary step towards creating something that will allow me to conduct research easier.

Essentially, NoteBot 4000 allows you to never lose a URL ever again. Browser history caches can be made to be large, but then they are not searchable.

Install Steps:

  1. [REGISTER] -- Register your userid, and receive email with username and password
  2. [INSTALL] -- Install the XPI, then exit FireFox
  3. Start FireFox and enter your username and password when prompted
  4. Surf a bit, make some notes, and then use the Tools->NoteBot 4000 Home menu to view your annotated history

Todo:

  1. Use XUL instead of JS alert/prompts
